Design Wall Monday 2/17

Progress has been made on my blue/white star quilt that had been a UFO since about 2009.  The pattern was a BOM originally found on Judy Laquidara's blog and I'm so happy that it is almost finished.  Here it is on our bed...another border or 3 to go and then off to the quilters.  Most of you probably know this, but I didn't...when I determined the size of this king size quilt, I used the measurements of our top sheet - 104 x 114.  I thought the 114 was the length...duh...it's the width!  I had added 3 more stars to Judy's design, added borders to 3 sides (left, right, bottom) and came out with a quilt that is VERY long and not wide enough.  No problem, 2 more wide borders on the left and right sides and a similar narrowish border at the top (see picture 2 with the pieced remnants) and it should be perfect!  Maybe a little long but it will be tucked under the mattress anyway.  I have an idea for the backing but need to find fabric for the 2 side borders first.

Note the 7" white border under the pieced border.  The last border will be a blue print.

Also, this week I made a potato bag and 2 bowl buddies for my cousin in Texas.  I love this fabric, don't you?

I completed the second block of the Ooh Rah BOM from Quilter's Newsletter...

And, last but not least, I received this beautiful Valentine from my BQFF (Best Quilt Friend Forever) Barb of Paint Creek Quilt - Love it!!  What a clever idea!!  Barb's blog has the link to the tutorial.

That's all from me this week.  I feel like I've accomplished quite a bit.  This week I have 3 classes to teach at our LQS.  Hopefully I will have some photos for you next Monday.  Almost forgot, last week I went to the Gwen Marston Exhibit at the Dennos Museum in Traverse City, Michigan.  WOW!!!  It's there until April 27th.
